Meet : Lauren!

MEET : L A U R E N

Founder of throw. & beds4kids

Meet our new friend Lauren. She is the founder and dreamer behind beds4kids, a organization passionate about solving the problem of inadequate bedding for children in need in Atlanta!

Lauren is originally from TN and moved to ATL a few years ago to pursue a consulting job. Upon moving here, she realized that if she could create a business to fund her non-profit, more people could be impacted. This is when the idea of Throw came along.

Through Lauren's for-profit company and other partners, beds4kids has provided beds for 10 children here in Atlanta...BRILLIANT! The children chosen for these beds was through an organization called Wilderness Works, who work with at risk and homeless children in Atlanta.

We are so excited to see the growth and momentum behind this amazing cause. In 2017 the goal for beds4kids is to provide 200 beds to kids without in Atlanta.

Make sure to check out how you can get involved with Beds4Kids by visiting their website here. Check out beds4kids & also her amazing company throw. which gives 100% of its profit to beds4kids.

We are inspired and excited about what Lauren and her team are doing here in our city.

Meet : Lori

This week we met with Lori (and family) at our favorite local coffee shop (taproom) and it was awesome! Lori is the visionary behind COAN Splash! - a non-profit raising money for a fully accessible splash pad for the East Side Community. She has been a part of the east side community for over 10 years and loves it.

Over the years, she has seen a need for a summer activity that is free, accessible, and inviting to the entire community. This is when the idea for Coan Splash! was born.

The vision is to create a splash pad in Coan park - free of charge and accessible to everyone. The idea has really grown in the last few years and continues to gain traction with the community.

One of the most amazing things about Coan Splash! is that it is completely volunteer run. Everyone on the team volunteers their time on top of their full time jobs - wow!

We really can not wait to see how Coan Splash grows and develops over the coming months! Make sure to read more about what they are doing and how to get involved here.

Four Beds to More Beds

Atlanta is the number one city in the U.S. with the highest sex economy income of $290 Million each year. BeLoved Atlanta is the only long-term residential home in the city of Atlanta for adult survivors of prostitution, trafficking and addiction.

Currently, BeLoved is renting one home with 4 beds that are consistently filled by women, ages 18 and older, and an ever expanding waiting list of survivors who want out, but have no place to go.

BeLoved Atlanta recently launched a House Campaign to double the number of beds they provide to survivors. Their goal is $200,000 which will allow BeLoved to purchase a home in the city of Atlanta, provide 8 women with beds, 2 years of programming, counseling, job assistance, education and so much more completely free-of-charge to Her.

They have already reached 180k of their goal amount of $200k - Check out more details about this "house campaign" below!
